Are Pajamas Only For Bed?

The most amazing thing happened yesterday. On my lunch break, I went into the Muji store "just to have a look." During my perusal, I came upon the lounge/pajamas section and quickly thought about all those times I told myself I'd buy myself some new pajamas and never did. Today I saw a 100% cotton, cotton colored pajama set at Muji and decided today was the day I'll get new pajamas.  And I did.

However, as I got ready for bed that night, I popped the tags, put on my brand new pjs and quickly realized I no longer had an interest in wearing my new pajamas to bed. They were too cute to just wear them to a place where no one will see them. Of course, the next morning (today) I was out about in my pajamas starting with breakfast at Mottley Kitchen in the Bronx.

To add more context, I've always felt weird and frankly a little confused about the idea of spending any money on pajamas because there is no dress code for bed. There are no rules, no judgments, no audience, no standard. To eat their own! One size fits all! That's the idea we've had of pajamas.

My friend and Instagram star Lauren Caruso hit me up almost immediately after my post to inquire specifically about the bottoms. I informed her that the bottoms are actually a part of a pajama set and I just loved how excited she was about this. She wore her pajama set to work the following Friday.

The point here is clothes are clothes. Use them as you'd like. Get inspired by them. Use them. Mix and match them. Dirty them. Wash them. Sleep in them. Share them.
