Every Saturday, I travel to a jail in NYC to visit and work with incarcerated young adult women on art history and art-making. This past week, we brought in a digital design lesson plan inspired by Loyalnana.com. We started the class by sharing the history, design, and vision of Loyal Nana along with an introduction to some of the original content produced by Loyal Nana like Meme Monday.
We discussed meme’s that Loyal Nana has recently covered such as: forgiving yourself but adjusting your habits, consciously ignoring red flags, social media and money, dodging the negative things about life, and loving your family as an introvert.
Today was a very special class for me as I shared my business and art with young women who are in a tough spot in life right now. I know I am blessed and I look forward to continuing to pay it forward as a child of a formerly incarcerated parent, a woman, a sister, a teacher, a daughter, a citizen, a Latina, a friend...
